COUPLETS FOR AN EVERLASTING EVE
(beti bezperako koplak)

On the eve of Saint Agatha's Day, it is a tradition in many parts of the Basque Country to go from door to door singing to the martyr to the rhythm of walking sticks.

Maialen Lujanbio uses the verses of this ancient custom to articulate a heartbreaking speech against male violence, which she herself recites.

Begoña Vicario coordinates this collective animation made by 20 Basque animators, bringing together our different styles in a single piece.

This short film has won more than 20 national and international awards, has been screened in more than 120 festivals and events in 31 countries, and has been selected for the Goya Awards in 2018.
